2- Federal Maritime Commission Rulemaking Check-In:
a) Unreasonable Refusal to Deal or Negotiated w/r/t Vessel Space Accommodations
b) Detention and Demurrage Billing Practices
c) Unfair or unjustly discriminatory methods
3- FMC Commissioner Carl Bentzel is making the rounds with a visit to Texas at the Port of the Future Conference at Supply Chain & Logistics Technology - University of Houston (LinkedIn post by Margaret A. Kidd, CMILT, CPE™) and a stop in Europe a few weeks ago visiting with the Digital Container Shipping Association (DCSA) (with an associated press release). We check in on the Maritime Transportation Data Initiative (MTDI) and the (from the press release) soon to be released report and recommendations.
4- Laura Curtis of Bloomberg reported last night that the ports of Port of Long Beach and Port of Los Angeles were effectively shut down due to lack of labor. Today, she reported a similar finding in the ports. This was confirmed by Ian Weiland (Junction Collaborative Transports). Something to watch -- is this labor contract related or just a bad few days of labor availability?
